Hindu Woman at Baijnath Temple

 Hindu Woman at Baijnath Temple.
Perhaps hoping to conceive, a pilgrim pours milk on a shiva lingam (Iinga) set in a yoni (bhaja). The lingam/yoni statue is a fertility symbol: the yoni represents a vagina; the lingam, a phallic stone pillar, is symbolic of the fertile powers of Shiva. Thus the connection of the lingam with the yoni represents the life-giving power of Shiva as the Creator. Baijnath, India
