Shang Dynasty Zun with Ram Motif
The design on this Shang Dynasty Zun, or wine vessel, is made up of four rams. The zun was a standard vessel that was copied until Qing times. The ram motif is one of the typical shapes of such a vessel; other animals often depicted were elephants, rhinos, oxen, tigers, unicorns, pigs, horses, and owls. ca. 16th-11th century B.C.
