A Prostitute by Yoshitoshi 1885
An extremely unflattering depiction of a drunken prostitute over-indulging in a restaurant. Drinking was an occupational hazard in the entertainment world, and a prostitute could quickly become an alcoholic. From a caricature series Kigen kurabe, "A Comparison of Temperments," whose theme is the evils of drink - note the sake-bottle shaped cartouche.
