Tipsy by Utagawa Toyokuni III 1857
A geisha with a shamisen celebrates at a cherry viewing party - the cherry blossoms can be seen in the vignette at top left. Her posture and the sake casks behind her indicate that she is quite tipsy. From the series Edo meisho hyakunin bijo, "Famous Places in Edo Compared to a Hundred Beautiful Women." Each print includes a landscape vignette by Kunihisa, who lived with Toyokuni III and married his daughter.
