A bureaucrat sprawls drunk beside his restaurant meal. He wears newly fashionable Western clothes, including striped socks, and a Western moustache. He holds a Western-style glass goblet, and the smoking equipment beside him holds cigarettes, not a Japanese pipe. From a caricature series Kigen kurabe, "A Comparison of Temperments," whose theme is the evils of drink - note the sake-bottle shaped cartouche.
