Temple relief carving, a large portrait of Brahma, the first member of the Hindu triad. Brahma is also called Prajapati, Lord and Father of All Creatures. Brahma has four faces, one facing each direction (only three are visible) and is identified as holding a rosary (or sceptre) , an alms bowl, a bow, and the Rig Veda, the ancient Hindu scriptures.Sculptures that decorate temples reached their pinnacle in elaboration during the Hoysala period.
