                                                          Brahma Sculpture, Tamil Nadu, India
Central figure of Brahma carved into the masonry  projections on the first tier of the roof. Brahma, the first member of the  Hindu triad, is rarely portrayed in sculptural adornment of temples.  Brahma is also called Prajapati, Lord and Father of All Creatures. He has four faces, one facing each direction (only three are visible) and is  identified as holding a rosary (or sceptre), an alms bowl, a bow, and the  Rig Veda, the ancient Hindu scriptures.
