Geisha Playing Cards by Yoshitoshi 1880

Geisha Playing Cards by Yoshitoshi 1880
From a series "Twenty-Four Hours of the Day at Shimbashi and Yanagibashi" (two famous entertainment areas in Tokyo), this describes the fifth hour (early in the morning). A geisha, working late, plays cards with a client. In the cartouche at the top is a rickshaw-puller with his rickshaw. This contraption had recently been invented by a foreign missionary.
