A geisha carries her shamisen to a restaurant by a manmade waterfall, shown in the cartouche behind her. Here she will play and entertain. She wears a hat and travelling clothes. The shamisen was closely associated with the profession of a geisha. From the series Edo meisho hyakunin bijo, "Famous Places in Edo Compared to a Hundred Beautiful Women". Each print includes a landscape vignette by Kunihisa, who lived with Utagawa Toyokuni and married his daughter.
