Jokhang Temple Roof Sculpture with Makara Head 7th century

Makara, a mythological creature with the head of a crocodile and the trunk of an elephant. The makara is depicted devouring a naga. It projects off of the corner of a roof of the Jokhang. The Jokhang Temple is the spiritual center of Tibet. Established by King Songtsen Gampo
