Bahram Gur Hunting the Wild Ass from the Shahnama by Firdausi ca. 1335-1336

This miniature painting comes from the manuscript known as the "Demotte" Shahnama, named after the art dealer Georges Demotte. This version of Firdausi's Shahnama was likely commissioned by Ghiyath-al-Din, an official at the Iklhanid court at Tabriz.
